5 Tips on What to Wear for Your Maternity Photoshoot
Comfortable, Flattering Pieces - Your body is performing the incredible miracle of growing life. Depending on your pregnancy journey, you might not be feeling your best. Choose a comfortable, flattering outfit for your maternity session so that you feel confident and not self-conscious. I usually recommend a beautiful dress!
Flowy Dresses - Find a flowy dress that you love. I find flowy dresses are comfortable, and flattering, and we can still show off your beautiful bump!
Soft, Neutral Colours - Chose a soft, neutral colour for your dress. Think creams, whites, light pinks, and light greens. Colours that will look beautiful on everyone and create a light and airy feel for your portraits.
Simple Accessories - We want all the focus to be on you and your pregnancy. Choose simple accessories that won’t distract from your joy. Plus, we don’t want any big jewelry pieces to look dated in just a few short years.
Hair and Makeup - For hair and makeup, I recommend a photo-ready look, meaning you look as beautiful as you are with the perfect makeup to help you feel confident!
What Should Your Family Wear?
Okay, now that mom is all set, what should your partner wear? If you’re including older children, what should they wear? I guide my clients through different options but will share my best tips for you below.
Partner- Khakis with a white henley or white button up
Girls - Dresses that compliment mom
Boys - White henley, t-shirt, or button-ups and khakis (same as dad!)
We don’t need to worry about shoes in the studio! Everyone can be barefoot.
