7 Benefits of Spring Family Photos
Spring is such an underrated time to take your family photos! The long winter is finally over, the sun is shining, the earth is green, and you look at your children and realize how much they’ve grown! Spring family photos are a wonderful way to celebrate this new season while documenting your growing family and preserving your memories with cherished portrait artwork.

1. Family Availability - I know this is different for every family, but I have noticed a lull in family activities in the spring. Your school-age children are wrapping up school activities and looking forward to summer. You’re back from any March break travels and thinking about planning summertime adventures. Mid to late spring offers a great time to schedule family photos before the busy summer kicks off.
2. Photographer Availability - Late summer into fall is my busiest time for family sessions. I have much more availability in the spring for family photos. You’ll have more options when it comes to scheduling your session.
3. Fresh Green and Blooms - For outdoor family photos, you can’t beat the beautiful backdrop of spring. We can embrace the fresh greenery of the season and find some lovely blooms to accent your family portrait.
4. Earlier Golden Hour Light - The sun sets earlier in spring, which means our golden hour of the best lighting is earlier. Golden hour is approximately an hour before sunset. This is great for families with little kids with early bedtimes. Please note, that we’ll schedule your session when it works best for your family.
5. Wardrobe - Springtime wardrobe colours include; creams, whites, soft pinks, and light greens. These colours photograph the best! In fact, my client wardrobe has outfits for mom, dad, and kids up to size eight and features many of these colours.
6. Studio - The studio is always warm, dry, and perfectly comfortable for your family photo session. We won’t have to worry about the weather or finding the best daylight. The beauty of using the studio is that your portraits will always be timeless.
