For many families, deciding they want newborn photography is a no-brainer. Adorable cuddles between parents and their baby, soft kisses, baby toes and feet! There are so many memories to capture before your little one begins to grow and change. Newborn photography can also feel a bit daunting. Sessions are typically scheduled a week or so after birth, so oftentimes Mama is feeling sore and just getting the hang of new routines. I promise you, Mama, I will make sure the entire experience is easy and relaxing so that we can capture the moments that are so important to you.
One of the concerns many parents have when leaving the house for what may be the first time since giving birth, is feeding. Whatever way you choose to feed your baby, I have lots of support in place for your session. I provide a bottle warmer, nursing pillow, and a judgement free, cozy space. Some choose to have photographs of these close moments, while others would rather have privacy during feeding. I will gladly tip-toe off to another room so you and your little one can have as long as needed for a proper feeding. I will never rush you or put you on a timeline during your session. These are baby-led sessions to keep everyone relaxed and happy, which means natural looking photos full of love and happiness.
Leaving the house for the first time since birth may also entail forgetting a few things. Having the diaper bag fully stocked and ready for your first family outing is not always at the top of the list for new parents. There are so many other things happening for you to focus on! Keeping your baby happy, recovery for Mama and a new routine for both Mama and Dada can be a difficult thing.
With this in mind, I always make sure to have some supplies in the studio just in case something is left behind. Diapers and wipes are something I have on hand all of the time. If something is forgotten at home, don’t be hard on yourself. As a mother of 2, I can tell you things will be forgotten, and the first few weeks will be full of so many emotions!
Parenthood is a journey, one that is different for everyone. Something we all want as parents? To capture the little moments, the look of unconditional love in our eyes as we gaze at our little one, the brightness in the eyes of our baby, and to have heirloom quality photographs to keep these memories fresh in our minds as our child grows.
