Newborn Sessions
For many parents, the newborn session is the first trip out of the house. It’s normal to feel some anxiety about the preparation and uncertainty of venturing out – know that I’m here to make it as easy as possible for you and your family. So, before I get into the details of how I put your mind at ease before and during a newborn session, here is a reminder that you are doing great. Wherever you are in your parenting journey, you got this Mama!
The studio itself has a very welcoming and calming atmosphere when you arrive. There will be white noise playing to keep your baby calm, the fireplace is running during the winter months to keep everyone warm and cozy. You can come get comfortable in front of the fire and focus on how beautiful your little one is, while I capture moments for you to remember for years to come.
If your baby wants Mama and Dada snuggles throughout the session, then your baby gets them. We’ll watch your little one for hunger cues, and take as much time as needed for feeding. I even have a nursing pillow and a bottle warmer available for use! I take a baby-led approach during my sessions, which means we follow the cues from you and your baby to ensure everyone is comfortable and happy during our time together. Over the years I’ve found that when I’m tuned into the needs of your family, we get more natural and beautiful images (and everyone is a lot happier, too). I also use the 5S system: swaddle, side, shh, suck, swing. This 5 step system works wonders with fussy little ones! Baby’s needs always come first, which means less stress for Mama, Dada and baby.
These days especially, parents are concerned about the cleanliness of the places they take their family to, specifically their newborns. This is why my studio is deep cleaned before and after each session takes place. The safety of your baby is my top priority, so I also make sure to have sanitizer on hand for myself to use before handling your baby. I also wear a mask at all times for the safety of Mama, Dada and baby. Along with this, I also have a strict ‘no-sick policy’ for everyone who comes into my studio. So, Mama can rest easy knowing that I take the safety of your baby very seriously.
After your consultation I hope you feel excited, and also confident in knowing that you are bringing your family into a judgement free, safe space where you can express all of the love you have for your baby. These loving moments are what I want to capture for you as a reminder of the newborn stage they grow out of so quickly! The cuddles, yawns, adorable smiles! These are all things we want to remember as parents when our child grows. Come relax, enjoy and leave knowing you’ll have amazing photographs to remember these beautiful moments!
