Three Sisters - Family Session
Woodstock Studio Newborn Session
Just before Christmas, I received the sweetest message from Mama, Keri. She had just had a newborn baby girl named Lauryn, and wanted to capture her while she was still teeny tiny and had her full head of dark hair. Keri has two older daughters and they grow up so quick. She said she had almost forgotten how small & precious they are at this age.
Mama Keri had some beautiful framed artwork of her two oldest girls up in her home, but she wanted to create something new that showcased the whole family. We focussed on creating a gorgeous family portrait and individual portraits of each child, with a special focus on baby Lauryn at this newborn age.
Of course we were sure to capture a special photograph of the three sisters together, too. I love that they will be able to cherish this moment in years to come, when the girls are older.
During newborn sessions it’s important to me that when you look back on your photographs that they take you back to that moment….and reflect who you are as a family. Cuddly moments like these are such a wonderful way to remember just how you felt when you introduced your new babe to the rest of the family.
Big sisters Taylor & Eva were a little shy at the beginning of the session. I took my time with each of them to allow them to get used to being photographed. What I love about a play-based session is that we can take our children’s lead and let more natural moments unfold. Genuine giggles and snuggles get me every time!
Capturing the children with each parent was really special, too. It’s neat to see how our kids relate to us in different ways. In this case, Eva & Taylor were all snuggles with Mom, and lots of silliness and play with Dad.
That gave me plenty of opportunity to capture lots of images of Lauryn while she snoozed away.
After we got all of our must-have images, we got out the bubbles, put on Eva’s favourite Taylor swift song and danced around the studio! Lauryn slept while we had fun!
CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
“Getting photos done by Rachael felt like a casual afternoon hanging out turned into beautiful photos we will cherish for years. It was easy, comfortable and natural. In her studio we felt welcomed and at ease. From the wardrobe to having framed photos hung in our home, we are so thankful for Rachael and the photographs she has given us to always bring us back to this special time in our lives.”
— Keri Colley
Keri wanted a gallery that could grow with her family, so we created this three piece collage with a modern washed raw frame. I love that we can add this gallery it over time as their girls grow and change. I installed this gallery and Keri has since added a gorgeous geometric wallpaper to the wall for some contrast.
