Baby Trevor

Newborn Session in Woodstock

This week I’m so excited to share the most adorable newborn session featuring the Lightbody family. Mom Rebecca and Dad Gerry wanted to capture some natural and authentic portraits after the birth of their sweet boy, Trevor. Big brother Dean had so much fun cruising around the studio, playing with the new and exciting toys, and introducing me to his new best friend and baby brother.

Parents are often nervous about how toddlers will react during a session. I have lots of tools to help make the experience enjoyable and also anticipate how the session may flow.

I like to photograph babies and children in the morning. Little ones are less likely to be overtired, hungry or overstimulated during that part of the day. I also make sure to keep a calm environment without a lot of distractions. This helps the majority of toddlers to open up, and get used to the space and the idea of being photographed, too. I will also spend a great deal of time chatting with your toddler in a gentle way to better get to know them, make sure they feel heard & seen and understood, before even getting my camera out. It may take a few minutes for your child to warm up to me, and that’s ok (and completely normal).

Rebecca describes her experience, below:

“Rachael did newborn photos for my family and I. Wow...they exceeded my expectations. Every detail of our experience with Rachael was flawless. We got beautiful photographs that we will treasure for the rest of our lives and that I am so proud to display in my home. But beyond that, we felt welcome in her home...it was like we were meeting with an old friend. My husband and I are always very awkward in front of a camera but with Rachael it came easy and effortless. I was very worried about my 2 year old who is a bit wild especially in front of a camera but Rachael was so great with him and we finally got some wonderful photos of him too. We didn't even have to think about what to wear as we got to pick from her beautifully curated wardrobe for the whole family! If you are looking for a photographer, look no further. I cannot recommend Rachael Little Photography enough.”

Trevor had the most beautiful eyes. We were able to capture both alert and sleep images during Trevor’s first portraits. His little flaky hands and toes danced about in the most adorable way!

Here’s the design I created for the Lightbody Family.

Clothing for some of these sessions was provided by our studio wardrobe. Imagine not having to stress about what to wear on photo day! Sessions at Rachael Little Photography include complimentary wardrobe and clothing consultation.
