What to Expect at a Maternity Photo Shoot at Rachael Little Photography
Hi mama! If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you are expecting a little one! This is such an exciting and precious time. Your maternity photoshoot will be a beautiful celebration of what your body is capable of and your baby. Maternity sessions are so special to me because I get to share in your joy. It’s also my favorite when I’m your newborn photographer as well, and I get to look forward to meeting your baby!
For some of my clients, this is their first professional photography experience since their wedding! I’d love to share more about what you can expect before, during, and after your maternity photoshoot with me.
What Happens Before Your Maternity Photo Shoot?
The fun really begins once we’re booked! Please know that I’m here for you every step of the way throughout the process. Over the years, I’ve refined my experience so that it’s tailored to you and your family. I want to make this as stress-free and fun as possible!
Once I have you on my calendar, we’ll chat through the session. During this planning phase, we’ll book a date in the sweet spot of your pregnancy (between 30-36 weeks) in the studio or meadow. After that, we’ll go through my client wardrobe and style you, your partner, and if you’re including older children.
What to Expect on the Day of the Maternity Session
On the day of the session, your job is to relax and have fun! My hair and makeup artist will help you feel beautiful for your photos. Once you and your family step into the studio, you’ll feel welcome and excited about celebrating your pregnancy! Your wardrobe will be ready and waiting for you to finish getting ready so we can start the session.
Of course, your pregnancy bump is the spotlight of our session, but I love being able to capture your excitement and joy. I very much believe in documenting your family’s love. So, I won’t necessarily put you and your partner in poses, but rather we’ll move around and have fun all while I’m capturing every smile, hug, and giggle. We’ll try a few different spots in the studio or meadow, and I’ll gently guide you along. It will feel effortless and just like you’re hanging out with an old friend.
What Happens After the Maternity Session?
A few weeks after the session, we’ll have your design and ordering appointment. You’ll come into my studio to sit back, relax, and experience your portraits for the first time! There’s nothing like getting to watch your family’s story. After you’ve viewed the photos, we’ll choose your favorites and design your portrait artwork. I’ll take care of the ordering and even hand deliver your portrait artwork to your home! If you order printed artwork, I can even help with hanging them on the wall.
